KABUL (SW) – Officials of the Ministry of Energy and Water have warned of the lack of drinking water due to the spell of drought in the country.

Abdul Latif Mansour, Acting Minister of Energy and Water, said in a press conference in Kabul today that the water level in Kabul is getting lower every day.

According to Mansour, the residents of Kabul consume water excessively while the capital city is facing a water shortage crisis.

The Acting Minister of Energy and Water warned of the consequences of excessive water consumption by citizens and said that if the residents of the capital do not pay attention to water consumption, there is a possibility that Kabul will run out of drinking water.

“The way we use water now, if water is used ruthlessly, there will be no drinking water in Kabul in the future.”

Concerns about the lack of water in Kabul are expressed while the Ministry of Energy and Water announces that a project worth 3 million dollars will be taken over to divert water from Panjshir to Kabul.

According to the officials of the Ministry of Energy and Water, the drought and the water shortage crisis have affected 80% of the country’s citizens and this has also caused damage to agriculture.
