Turhan Saleh appointed as new UNDP Resident Representative for Afghanistan

Turhan Saleh has appointed as new United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative for Afghanistan.

In a post on X on Thursday (July 16), UNDP announced that Mr. Saleh arrived in Afghanistan this week to lead the agency’s work in supporting communities, strengthening livelihoods, empowering women, and advancing sustainable development across the country.

Mr. Saleh joined UNDP in 1997 and has served in various positions within the organization. Prior to his assignment in Afghanistan, he worked as Senior Advisor in UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Arab States.

Before Turhan Saleh’s appointment, Stephen Rodriques served as UNDP Resident Representative in Afghanistan from May 2023 to July 2026.
