FAIZABAD CITY (SW) – Local sources in Badakhshan report to Salam Watandar that an explosion near the third district of Faizabad city, the center of this province, has resulted in one fatality and three injuries.
While the identity of the deceased and the injured remains unclear as military or civilian personnel, sources reveal that, the explosion originated from an improvised explosive device planted on a motorcycle by the roadside, targeting a ranger of the Islamic Emirate security forces.
Earlier warnings from local sources in Badakhshan foretold an explosion near the “Sarkunda” pass in the third district of Faizabad city, occurring approximately at 11:25 a.m. local time on Wednesday, involving a motorcycle by the roadside.
Zabihullah Amiri, the head of Information and Culture in Badakhshan, confirms the explosion in the vicinity of the third district of Faizabad; however, details regarding casualties remain undisclosed.
As of now, no individual or group has claimed responsibility for the explosion.
