Landmine blasts claim lives of 10 children in Ghazni, Herat

MONDAY, APRIL 1 (SW) – At least 10 children have been killed as a result of landmine explosions left over from the war in Ghazni and Herat provinces, confirmed officials.

Hamidullah Nesar, the head of Information and Culture in Ghazni, says that this incident occurred on Sunday, in the Giro district of Ghazni province while these children were playing with the mine.

He adds that four girls and five boys, aged between four and ten, have been killed.

On the other hand, Abdul Rahimi, the deputy governor of Keshk Rubat Sangi district in Herat province, says that as a result of mine explosion in this province, a 10-year-old child has been killed and five other children were injured.

He added this incident occurred on late Sunday in the Keshk Rubat Sangi district while these children were also playing with the mine.

Afghanistan is one of the countries contaminated with remnants of war, which particularly victimizes its citizens, especially children.
