Only one devastated school in Nahr-e-Seraj

LASHKARGAH (SW) – The residents of Helmand’s Nahar-e-Seraj district say that there is only one school in the district whose building was destroyed during the previous wars.

Residents of this district told Salam Watandar that their children are getting their primary education from Mullah Imams in mosques due to lack of schools. The residents of the district want the authorities to build similar schools and religious madrassas across this district.

Mir Zaman, a resident of the district, told Salam Watanadar: “Where can our children go, there is no school, they only go to the mosque and that’s it. This school is in ruins. We request the Islamic Emirate to build schools and seminaries.”

Hafiz Abdullah Jan, financial and administrative officer at the district, also confirms the absence of schools, but says that he has talked with senior officials about this public need.

At the same time, the officials of the Helmand education department say that the residents of different areas of this province are deprived of education too, but they are trying to provide education to the residents of all areas.

Mohammad Awad Ansari, director of education in Helmand, said: “Many areas in Helmand remain deprived of education. “We are trying to provide education to the children in these areas, because Helmand has vast areas and many deserts. Many children in these deserts are still deprived of education,” he added.
