Street book exhibition opens in Herat

HERAT CITY (SW) – A six-day book fair titled “Street Book Exhibition” has been opened in Herat province on Sunday.

Farooq Mahmoodi, one of the organizers of the exhibition, expressed delight at the warm reception from the residents of Herat province towards the exhibition.

He stated that they are striving to organize more such book exhibitions.

Mahmoodi identifies the aim of this exhibition as promoting a culture of reading among teenagers and youth.

On the other hand, visitors to this exhibition expressed satisfaction, considering the organization of such exhibitions particularly beneficial and important for women and girls.

Parisa Popal, one of the participants in this exhibition, said: “I really feel good. Today, when women and girls cannot go to universities and schools, these exhibitions are good for their morale. Now that there are no universities, girls can improve their knowledge through the books available at these exhibitions.”

Over 2000 books in various sections are on display at this exhibition.

Since the beginning of the year, this is the third book exhibition held in Herat.
