Sit-in camp for peace erected at the site of Logar truck bombing

PUL-E-ALAM (SW) – The Logar residents have set-up a protest camp at the site of last week’s deadly truck bombing in demand for ceasefire in the country.

Peace activists, local residents and grieving members of the victims’ families gathered in this camp and shared their views for peace.

Speaking on the occasion, one of the activists Mohammad Akram Ahmadzay said such horrific incidents should never be repeated in the country again. He urged the government and Taliban to shun violence, reach a political agreement and ensure protection of civilians.

The Logar sit-in camp participants vowed to stay the course until their demands for truce are not met.

Two of the local participants, Laro Khan and Mohammad Ismail, said only the common Afghans are bearing the brunt of raging war and unrest in the country. He urged all warring factions to resolve differences through dialogue.

The last week’s brazen truck bombing in Logar killed at least 24 civilians and injured over 100 others, mostly high-school students who are preparing for university entrance examinations.
