The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with support from the Special Trust Fund for Afghanistan (UN_STFA), said a total of 73,238 square meters of land have been cleared of landmines in Kunduz.

In a post on X on Sunday (Oct. 4), the UNDP said that more than 12 villages in Chahardara district have been cleared of explosive hazards, making the areas safer for people to live and work.

The UNDP, in collaboration with its partners, is helping clear explosive hazards and raise community awareness about the dangers of landmines in the province.

Previously, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said that Afghanistan is the third country in the world with the highest number of casualties from explosive remnants of war.
