Saleh says ‘Daeshi Taliban’ have threatened of a massacre of Shiites

KABUL (SW) – Vice President Amrullah Saleh claimed on Saturday the ‘Daeshi Taliban’ have threatened of a ‘massacre of the Shiite in Kabul’ if inmates associated with the insurgents are awarded death sentence.

In one of his usual social media posts, Saleh wrote the Taliban have also threatened to behead the abducted people under their custody.

The first vice president said he had instructed the Kabul National Directorate of Security to send a message to all ISIS-affiliated Taliban that the government knows all their ‘ancestry’. He stressed the ‘Daeshi Taliban’ should know that no threat will prevent the government from exposing them.

He once again called on the judiciary to openly prosecute these insurgents and speed up the trial of those previously detained. He said this fight in secrecy against these militants has yield no result.

Meanwhile, Shah Hossein Mortazavi, the Presidential Advisor for Cultural Affairs, has criticized the way VP Saleh has made this matter public. In a social media post, he responded to Amrullah Saleh’s Facebook post with a tagline of ‘No Threatening of Shiites”. He has written that the so-called ISIS and the Taliban are the enemies of humanity and Afghanistan.

Mortazavi said that the manner of sharing information should be professional and not contribute to the enemy’s psychological warfare.

Mohammad Mohaqiq, the leader of the Islamic Unity Party of Afghanistan, and a number of other social media users have also reacted sharply to the VP’s remarks.
