8.3 million children will receive Polio vaccination in Afghanistan

The Ministry of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate has announced that a sub-national polio vaccination campaign begins today across 20 provinces.

In a statement released on Monday (18 May), the ministry said the polio vaccination campaign will continue for four days, during which 8.3 million children will receive the polio vaccine.

According to the ministry, the campaign in Kandahar, Helmand, Uruzgan, and Zabul provinces will continue from 19 to 22 May.

Meanwhile, the Polio-Free Afghanistan agency called on families on Saturday to help eliminate the disease by ensuring that their children receive the vaccine.

This is the second round of the sub-national polio vaccination campaign in Afghanistan in the current year.
