GHAZNI CITY (SW) – The shortage of school buildings and proper classrooms in Ghazni province has become a significant challenge for many students. Residents highlight the difficult conditions their children face, being compelled to study under trees or in tents.
Mahmood, a teacher in the Qara Bagh district of Ghazni, says that the work of building a school in this district has remained incomplete for 12 years. He points out that “most of the schools in various districts of Ghazni do not have any buildings.”
Residents of Ghazni say that years of war and insecurity have caused many children to be deprived of proper education.
Zakarya, a resident of the center of Ghazni, states: “This is a big deal; they struggle with cold weather in winter and warm in summer.”
Mohammad Farooq Poya, a university teacher and educational expert argued that the lack of proper educational facilities and standardized atmosphere is impactful for the teaching process and absorption of lessons, and students cannot learn their lessons properly.
“If there be a standard place for them, it is effective for improving lessons and learning education; There are many more problems in most districts,” he said.
Confirming the issue of the lack of school buildings and classrooms, officials from Ghazni’s Education Directorate say of the 680 schools in this province, 249 schools do not have any buildings.
Sebghatullah Ahmadi, Director of Publications of Ghazni Education Directorate told Salam Watandar: “In the next year, we have a plan to restore and rebuild the school buildings.”
He urges the Ministry of Education and other organizations to support this office in building and restoring the school buildings in the districts of Ghazni.
