MoPH Seeks Chinese Cooperation to Boost Health Sector

KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), led by Acting Minister Qalandar Ebad, highlights the priority of improving the capacity of Afghan doctors and calls for Chinese cooperation in the health sector.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Public Health wrote on the social media platform X that Qalandar Ebad raised the issue in a meeting with Zhao Sheng, the Chinese ambassador in Kabul.

The meeting, delved into crucial subjects, including the rejuvenation of Jumhoriyat Hospital, augmentation of the capabilities of Afghan medical professionals, strategic investments in the healthcare sector, and comprehensive measures for the control and prevention of both COVID-19 and polio.

Qalandar Ebad, emphasizing the paramount importance of diplomatic ties between Afghanistan and China, advocated for the imperative of bilateral collaboration between the two nations.

Furthermore, Ebad underscored the critical need for capacity-building initiatives targeting healthcare personnel, stating, “Enhancing the capabilities of Afghan doctors stands as a central priority, and Afghanistan possesses a substantial human resource that warrants focused efforts in capacity building.”

During the meeting, Chinese Ambassador Zhao Sheng pledges support and cooperation in Afghanistan’s health sector.
