Islamic Emirate asks Iran not to expel Afghan refugees forcefully

KABUL (SW) – The process of deportation of Afghan immigrants in Iran has been increased during the past two months, Iranian media have reported.

According to reports, officials of Iran say that in the last five days, 16,000 Afghan immigrants have been deported from Iran.

Meanwhile, a number of Afghan immigrants in Iran complain about the increasing pressures of the government of this country against refugees. They say that Afghan immigrants are not allowed to work and stay in most cities especially the northern cities of Iran.

Nawroz Rahmani, an Afghan immigrant in Iran, says that in the nowadays, immigrants cannot easily walk around in the cities.

“Afghan immigrants live in difficult conditions in Iran. In terms of finding a job, there are many security and mental threats against them. Pharmacies don’t give medicine, we cannot rent houses, and they don’t give us important and professional jobs. There are many arrests, especially in the north of this country”, He added.

On the other hand, Matin Sarwari, another Afghan immigrant in Iran who lives illegally in this country, says: “There are many financial problems, they don’t give us job, they harass us a lot; even some bakeries don’t give us bread. The underage youths have more problems who are not employed by anyone.”

However, the Islamic Emirate asks the government of Iran to use patience toward the Afghan immigrants and not forcefully expel the immigrants from this country.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, tells Salam Watandar: “We have obtained the information that Afghan immigrants in Iran have been subjected to a series of restrictions. We want immigrants not to be pressured and forced to be deported. Just as Iran has been patient toward immigrants for many years and hosted them, they should continue this process so that the good mentality that Afghans have about Iran, is not ruined.”

It should be mentioned that on Sunday, December, the Director General for Foreign Nationals and Immigrants’ Affairs of the governing office of Kermanshah in Iran, announced that with the instructions issued by the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, the presence, settlement and employment of Afghan immigrants is prohibited in 16 provinces of Iran, including Kermanshah.

The Commander of the Border Guards in Khorasan Razavi province of Iran, recently told media that in the past five days, more than 16,000 Afghan migrants have been deported from this country. According to the statistics of the Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation, 134,000 migrants have been returned from Iran in the last month.
