KHOST CITY (SW) – The local officials in Khost say that they have started the extraction of a chromite mine in “Rajak area” of Zazai Maidan district.
Director of Khost Mines ,Maulvi Sadiq Jan has said that the mining contract has been given to Karim Wardag Mineral Company for five years.
According to Maulvi Sadiq Jan, an average of (2260) tons of chromite stone will be extracted from this mine every year, which will be delivered to the government at 10,500 afghanis per ton.
He added that he has also awarded three more mines in Khost, two of them are located in Gurab district and another one is located in Virzhale area of Thani district.
Officials in Khost insisted that in the past, many mines used to be illegally extracted and smuggled, which, according to them, has now been stopped.
Khost’s Sapera, Dommanda, Thani, Gurbaz and Zazamidan districts have vast mineral reserves.
