KABUL (SW) – Kabul Municipality has launched a one-week campaign to promote reusable bags in the city amid growing environmental challenges.
Nematullah Barakzai, the spokesperson of Kabul municipality, has asked the residents of this city to use fabric and paper bags instead of the plastic ones.
“We propose a one-week monthly campaign to promote the culture of using reusable bags in order to reduce environmental pollution.”
Health experts say that the use of plastic causes neurological diseases, insomnia, boredom, fatigue, persistent cough, shortness of breath, sperm reduction, birth defects, hearing and vision problems for citizens.
“Using plastic causes many diseases among citizens, and citizens should not use plastic bags when taking food and foodstuffs”, said Farid Ullah, an health expert.
Abdul Hadi Achakzai, an environmental expert, said the government does not have the ability to deal with environmental pollution alone, and people should cooperate with the Kabul Municipality in this area.
