Floods devastate residents in multiple provinces

KABUL/ PARWAN (SW) – Floods continue to cause massive damages in a number of provinces across Afghanistan.

The local officials of Maidan Wardak confirmed that the Kabul-Bamian highway has been closed due to the recent floods in the “Khwaja Sahib” area of ​​Jalriz district of this province, and hundreds of passengers are stuck on both sides.

Faizullah Jalali, the head of disasters management authority told Salam Watandar that the rescue team has reached the place and is trying to open this highway for passengers.

Local officials of Parwan confirmed that hundreds of acres of agricultural land have been destroyed due to flooding in Siah Gard district of this province.

Abdul Ghaffar Heydari, the district governor of Siah Gard, told Salam Watandar that after today’s storm, due to the floods huge financial losses have been caused to the local residents.

He added that as a result of this flood, hundreds of acres of agricultural land have been destroyed and the flood has taken away dozens of livestock.

He emphasized that as a result of this flood, a number of roads, bridges and culverts have also been destroyed in different areas.
