Eid festivities marred by political situation

KABUL (SW) – Kabul residents say this year’s Eid festivities have been marred by the political and economic situation in the country.

The residents of Kabul city say that although there is little time left until the arrival of Eid al-Adha, but they are not ready to celebrate these happy days. They added that they are depressed because of the prevailing conditions in the country and they are not happy even with the arrival of Eid.

In conversation with Salam Watandar, Adam Khan, a resident of Kabul city, said: “In the past years, Eids were celebrated with joy and happiness, but in this Eid, you don’t see happiness or preparation, everyone is depressed. I am 24 years old, but I am not happy about the Eid.”

Homayoun, another resident of Kabul city, also says: “In the past, when Eid was 15 days away, people were excited, people prepared for Eid with enthusiasm, there was love and intimacy. Now, day by day and year by year, this love and intimacy is decreasing.”

Bilal and Suleiman, two other residents of Kabul city, say that they are not ready to celebrate Eid. According to them, the bad economic situation does not allow them to celebrate happy days properly.

Bilal says: “People’s economic situation is deteriorating day by day, they can’t celebrate Eid with this situation. I myself have two days left for Eid, but I haven’t made any preparations; Because he doesn’t like it.”

However, psychologists say that celebrating pleasures is a human need. According to them, the dimming of the reception of good days has negative consequences.

Zahra Mirzaei, a psychologist, tells Salam Watandar that the destructive effects of not being able to celebrate Eid affect children more.

This is while the citizens of the country are facing many problems, especially economic problems, and according to reports, Afghanistan has the saddest people in the world.
