Iran and Pakistan urged to open their borders to Afghan refugees

KABUL (SW) – Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, deputy minister for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, has called on neighboring countries, especially Iran and Pakistan, to open their borders to Afghan refugees.

He called on Iran and Pakistan to deal with Afghan refugees under international law and to stop harassing them. Stanekzai added at the meeting that the ulema [religious scholars] had issued a fatwa on the education of girls, which should be provided without discrimination alongside boys. He called on the Islamic Emirate to provide jobs for the people and prevent them from migrating.

Although a number of former government officials have recently returned to Afghanistan as a result of the Commission’s efforts, many citizens want to leave the country due to poverty and economic hardship.

However, the Deputy Foreign Minister stressed that a number of foreign countries that lost the war in Afghanistan have now waged a political war with the Islamic Emirate. According to him, these countries are trying to expel trained youth and cadres from Afghanistan under this pretext.
