Flash floods in Faryab claim six lives

MAIMANA (SW) – At least six people have lost lives following flash floods in parts of Faryab province, confirmed officials on Friday.

Local sources in Faryab told Salam Watandar that six people lost their lives on Thursday due to heavy rains and floods in Garziwan and Belcheragh districts of the province.

According to these sources, six people, including five children, drowned in the village of “Kulian” in Balchiragh district while a man was rescued. In Garzivan district, three people drowned due to flooding, two of whom were rescued and one died.

Sources add that these incidents have also caused huge financial losses to the residents.

Local officials in Faryab have not yet commented on the floods in the districts and the casualties.
