Blast in ‘Saray-e-Shahzada’ claims one life, injures 10 people

KABUL (SW) – A blast inside the main forex exchange market in the downtown Kabul has killed one person and a number of people got injured, confirmed officials.

One person was killed and 59 others were injured in the explosion, the Emergency Hospital said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Interior Affairs of the Islamic Emirate announced that the explosion this morning in the Saray-e-Shahzada Market in Kabul left 10 people injured.

The ministry issued a statement saying the blast was caused by a hand grenade thrown at the shop by a thief to steal money.

The statement said that investigations are underway and the forces of the Islamic Emirate are trying to arrest the perpetrator of this incident.

Around 10 am today, an explosion took place in the market, the largest currency exchange center in the country. Sources told the media that the number of injured was 15 to 20. Five money changers were also injured in the blast, according to sources.
