Blast in Helmand injures 7 of a family

LASHKARGAH (SW) – At least seven members of a family have got injured in Helmand province following a blast,  confirmed officials.

The seven members of a family were injured in an explosion in the Marjah district of southern Helmand province late on Friday afternoon.

A statement from Helmand’s information and culture department said the injured were all members of the same family who had been injured in the blast.

The injured were taken to the province’s emergency hospital and are being treated, the statement said.

Meanwhile, six members of a family, including a child and two women, were injured in a mortar attack in Tirinkot city of Uruzgan province yesterday.

Despite the respite from large scale fighting, the unexploded ordnance and roadside bombs continues to threaten people’s lives.

Last week, a motorcycle carrying two people struck a roadside bomb on the Kandahar-Herat highway in Helmand province, killing one person and injuring another.
