Government employees assured of timely salary payments

KABUL (SW) – All government employees would receive their salaries on time from now onward, Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and deputy director of publications for the Ministry of Information and Culture has promised.

He said at a meeting in Kabul on Tuesday that government employees would now receive their monthly salaries in a timely manner.

Speaking at a meeting with businessmen and craftsmen in Kabul, Mujahid added that with the rise to power by the Islamic Emirate, many government employees had not been paid their salaries by the previous administration, but the neew government had paid their salaries from domestic revenues and would continue to pay their salaries on time.

He said that about 500,000 people work in government offices and are paid from domestic revenues. According to him, they have increased the transparency of domestic revenues and are trying to keep the country’s economy afloat.

Zabihullah Mujahid emphasized that the government has already raised more than one billion afghanis and will increase this figure in the future. He called on the country’s businessmen to contribute to the development and progress of their country and to consider the quality of their products.

The spokesman for the Islamic Emirate also stressed the need to pay taxes, adding that taxpayers should pay their taxes on time and play their role in strengthening the government.
