EU envoy calls for scraping house-to-house search in Kabul

KABUL (SW) – The top EU diplomat for Afghanistan has urged the Isalmic Emirate officials to stop the house-to-house search operation in the capital Kabul.

“The intimidations, house searches, arrests and violence against members of different ethnic groups and women are crimes and must stop immediately. Despite Putin’s war we are watching you !”, tweeted Andreas von Brandt, Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the EU to Afghanistan.on Monday.

As of Thursday morning, parts of Kabul, the capital of the country, seems militarized with the forces of the Islamic Emirate conducting house-to-house search.

A number of residents of the capital have complained about the inspection of their homes by the forces of the Islamic Emirate, expressing concern that this has caused fear and anxiety among people and families, especially women and children.

According to them, most of the equipment belonging to the former government has been confiscated by the forces of the Islamic Emirate and those possessing it have been interrogated.

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, said in a statement on Friday that security forces from the Ministries of Defense, Interior and the Intelligence Department of the Islamic Emirate had launched a large-scale clean-up operation in Kabul and neighboring provinces, led by Deputy Defense Minister Mullah Mohammad Fazl Mazlum.

The purpose of the clean-up operation in these areas is said to detain and eliminate those involved in theft, kidnapping, destruction and other crimes who have already been identified by the security forces of the Islamic Emirate, the statement said.
