Clean-up operation launched in Kabul, surroundings

KABUL (SW) – The Islamic Emirate forces have launched a clean-up security operation in parts of Kabul and neighboring provinces.

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, said in a statement on Saturday that security forces from the Ministries of Defense, Interior and the Intelligence Department of the Islamic Emirate had launched a large-scale clean-up operation in Kabul and neighboring provinces, led by Deputy Defense Minister Mullah Mohammad Fazl Mazlum.

The purpose of the clean-up operation in these areas is said to detain and eliminate those involved in theft, kidnapping, destruction and other crimes who have already been identified by the security forces of the Islamic Emirate, the statement said.

The statement stressed that civilians and their homes would not be harmed during the operation, and that all precautions would be taken.

The Islamic Emirate has called on the residents of these areas to cooperate with the security forces in identifying and detaining criminals and providing information about them, because, according to the government, the operation was launched to improve the security of Kabul residents, businessmen and other citizens.
