COVID-19 infections, deaths continue to rise steadily

KABUL (SW) – The new coronavirus infections continued to rise steadily with health officials reporting 1582 new cases and 56 corresponding deaths.

The Ministry of Public Health announced in the daily update that 56 COVID-19 patients had died in the country overnight and 1,582 more patients had been identified. The new cases were detected out of 4,671 suspected patients.

According to official statistics, the number of deaths and new infections in the past 24 hours has been unprecedented since the pandemic hit the country. In the last 24 hours, 376 patients recovered after first getting infected.

With the registration of the new cases of infection and death, the total number of infected people has reached to 82,326 and the number of dead has reached 3,251.



Last week, a 100-bed dedicated facility for coronavirus patients was inaugurated by the health minister Waheed Majroh at the Mohammad Ali Jinnah Hospital.

Speaking on the occasion, the health minister said this was the maiden facility of the sort in the country with for Covid-19 patients to be equipped with an oxygen generator. He further warned the country will witness peak of the pandemic in the next two to four weeks, and citizens should take the ministry’s recommendations seriously.
