More than 800 new cases of COVID-19 registered

KABUL (SW) – More than 800 new cases of the coronavirus and 19 associated deaths were reported across the country in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Public Health, some 3,489 patients suspected of having the virus were tested overnight. According to the ministry, 19 patients lost their lives in the country during the same period and 840 new cases were identified.

This number of cases in a single day is the highest in the country in recent months.



The new cases have been registered in 25 provinces. Kabul was at the top of the list of with 267 new cases overnight.

Meanwhile, 223 patients who had previously contracted the virus recovered.

According to the Ministry of Public Health, 452,592 people have been tested across the country since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, at least 67,743 people have been infected with the virus and 2,855 people have lost their lives due to the virus. Similarly, 56,518 people have recovered from the onset of pandemic after contracting it.



To date, over 168 million people in the world have been infected with the virus. Of these, more than 3.4 million lost their lives and some 149 million recovered.

The US, India, Brazil, France, Turkey and Russia are among the countries that have identified the most number of cases. Of these, the US has the highest number of victims in the world. To date, more than six million people have died in the US to COVID-19.
