Coronavirus infections cross 50,000 amid second wave

KABUL (SW) – At least 17 more people died to the coronavirus in past 24 hours as the infection rate continued to rise amid second wave of the pandemic, the Ministry of Public Health confirmed on Saturday.

The ministry said in its daily report on Saturday that 1,123 patients suspected of having coronas were tested in past 24 hours, of which 80 tested positive. It said 75 people with the virus recovered in this period in the eight province across the country.

According to the Ministry of Public Health, since the beginning of the spread of the virus to date, 50,536 people across the country have been infected with the virus and 2,054 people have died from it.

As many as 38,799 people got recovered after initially getting infected.

According to the Ministry of Health, 178,954 people across the country have undergone coronavirus tests so far.
