18 soldiers killed in Farah, Nimroz

 

HERAT CITY (SW) – Members of the Farah and Nimroz provincial councils have confirmed the killing of at least 18 soldiers here in the Taliban attacks.

Kher Mohammad Norzay, a Farah provincial council member, said the insurgents killed nine soldiers here last evening as an infiltrator among the army men helped them staging the assault. He said the incident took place in the Farah Rod district. He added five other soldiers got injured in this attack and the insurgents also took away arms and other resources from the military station.

The army’s 207-Zafar Corps has not commented on this.

Elsewhere, member of the Nimroz provincial council Naimatullah Sediqi told Salam Watandar dozens of the Taliban armed with heavy arms staged an assault on an army unit in Khas Rod district last evening. He added nine soldiers and one insurgent got killed in the shooting.

Sediqi said the insurgents fled the site of the attack when Afghan Air Force arrived at the scene.

The Taliban have not commented on this attack.
