42 captives freed from Taliban detention  

 

BAGHLAN (SW) – At least 42 captives have been freed from the Taliban captivity in Baghlan province, officials announced on Tuesday.

Fareed Khan Syedkhaily, commander of the third brigade of the 217 – Pamir Corps said the operation to free these men was conducted in Baghlan-e-Markazi district last evening. He added among those freed included 25 members of the security forces and 17 civilians.

Syedkhaily said the Taliban’s detention facility in the area was completely dismantled in the operation. He vowed no one got hurt in this raid.

This was the second prison facility of the Taliban dismantled by the security forces in the province.

Prior to this, similar operations to free captives from the Taliban detention were conducted in Logar and Helmand province.
