3 health ministry officials sent to prison

KABUL (SW) – Three officials at the Ministry of Public Health were on Monday sentenced to prison for taking $ 80,000 in bribes.

The Attorney General’s Office made this announcement here on Monday. As per the ruling, Ghulam Sakhi Nazar, the head of the stocks and Ghulam Mostafa, the director of the stocks at the MoPH, were each sentenced to five years in prison while Ahmad Fawad, a technician at the stocks directorate was sentenced to three years in prison.

The ruling was issued at a public hearing of the appellate court. The court acquitted three members of the inspection committee of the MoPH in this case.

Earlier this week, three former members of the upper house of parliament were sentenced to prison over bribery charges.
