10 security forces killed in Taliban onslaught in Kunduz

 

KUNDUZ CITY (SW) – Officials in Kunduz on Monday said at least 10 security forces got killed and 3 others were wounded in the Taliban attacks.

The provincial council chairman Mohammad Yusuf Ayubi said that the Taliban attacked a security checkpoint in the Ostameng area of ​​Imam Sahib district at around 7pm last night. According to the head of the Kunduz provincial council, the clashes continued until midnight at the checkpoint and the Taliban also targeted the supporting force who was moving towards the checkpoint.

Ayubi added that as a result of the clashes, 8 members of the local uprising force and 2 army forces, including a border guard commander, were killed and 3 other security forces were wounded.

Abdul Hadi Nazari, spokesman for the 217th Pamir Corps, confirmed the Taliban attack and the deaths of security forces in the Imam Sahib district of Kunduz, but did not share statistics on the casualties.

According to Nazari, sporadic were still taking place in the district.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
