The Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) covering Afghanistan said it has supported farmers in Herat through the distribution of agricultural equipment.
The organization wrote on X on Tuesday (May 19) that it distributed harvesting machines, silos, and tarpaulins to 250 farmers.
ICRC also added that the farmers were trained on how to protect wheat from damage, reduce losses, and turn weeks of hard work into just a few days.
The agricultural sector is one of the most important economic sectors in Afghanistan, with nearly 80% of the country’s population relying on agriculture to meet their families’ food and other basic needs.
