In search of learning; a story of exploring AI

My name is Mohammad Hussain Jafari, a journalism student at “Rana” University. With the growth and emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) in Afghanistan’s media environment, many questions have arisen among students and youth regarding the features and functions of this technology.

At first, perceptions of this platform were different and, at times, incorrect. The increasing use of AI in Afghanistan also motivated me to seek more information about this technology.

With the help of web tools and online information sources, I explored AI and its functions, as well as its positive and negative aspects. This search led to a good level of familiarity. I now use this technology in various aspects of my life. Although I have not been using AI for a long period, since becoming familiar with it and applying it for educational and learning purposes, it has made the difficult process of learning easier for me.

My initial motivation for engaging with this new technology was my desire to learn. From specialized university discussions to general questions, and most importantly language learning, these are the main areas in which I use AI.

The emergence of new technologies has created many opportunities for education and research. Anyone, in any field, can achieve progress and personal or professional development through the use of AI.

At the beginning of my experience, I evaluated the information provided by AI and started to believe in its accuracy and speed. Although it is not possible to rely on this technology permanently or in all matters and decisions, it can still be helpful in various areas.

My findings from exploring AI and the information it provides show that, contrary to my initial assumptions, it is precise and accurate. The data this technology provides is based on relevant and credible sources. AI delivers structured and well-organized information to users. My experience shows that its information is fast, accurate, and precise; these features have attracted me more to AI.

AI has many tools, each serving a specific purpose. With each passing day, these tools continue to expand. However, from the beginning of my experience until now, I have mainly used ChatGPT. This platform helps me expand my knowledge in various fields. It supports updated learning, especially language learning, and its advice is very useful in this regard.

However, there is also a challenge among youth. The excessive use of AI among students can lead to laziness and reduce critical and independent thinking skills. My message to youth and my peers is to use this technology in a structured and purposeful way and to avoid becoming dependent on it.

There are many positive features in this technology. We should avoid mistakes and overusing it.
