UNICEF: 1 in 3 people in Afghanistan cannot access to safe drinking water

The Afghanistan office of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has stated that one in every three people in Afghanistan cannot access to safe drinking water.

The agency announced today (Tuesday, March 24) that last year it provided access to safe water for 2.1 million people in Afghanistan.

UNICEF added that further efforts are needed to ensure that every child has access to safe water.

In recent years, access to water for Afghan citizens has been limited due to climate change.

Earlier, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated that more than 21 million people in Afghanistan do not have access to safe water.
