Call for facilities at ‘Spene Shagee’ recreation spot

GARDEZ CITY (SW) – With the onset of warmer weather and the approach of Eid, visits to the “Spene Shagee” recreation area in Aryoub Zazai district, Paktia, have increased.

The residents of Aryoub Zazai district are urging for the enhancement of facilities at Spene Shagee, the largest recreation area in the district.

Local residents report that due to the lack of amenities and proper maintenance, a significant portion of the natural grass in this recreational area has been damaged. They call on the de-facto government of the Islamic Emirate to provide essential services, including parking facilities and other conveniences, to better serve visitors.

Jan Akbar, a resident of Aryoub Zazai, emphasized the need for protection and management of the area: “Firstly, responsible individuals should safeguard this recreational area. Secondly, this area is leased out every year and needs proper waste management. A designated area for vehicle parking should also be established.”

Local officials in Paktia have stated that they will provide necessary facilities at Spene Shagee for the upcoming Eid celebrations.

Sawab Islamyar, Head of Information and Culture Directorate in Paktia, mentioned that each year, following the governor’s directive, a committee is formed to ensure the provision of amenities for visitors to the Spene Shagee recreation area.

“Spene Shagee” in Aryoub Zazai district, located about 80 kilometers from Gardez, the capital of Paktia, annually hosts tens of thousands of visitors from Paktia and other provinces.
