WFP warns of critical malnutrition crisis in Afghanistan

MONITORING (SW) – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Afghanistan has announced that for every three malnourished children in the country, only one child can be supported.

On Friday, WFP stated on its official X account, saying that children bear the brunt of the most significant reductions in aid.

The UN World Food Programme emphasized that financial support to address the needs of the vulnerable is “critical.”

Previously, the UN had warned that three million children in Afghanistan would suffer from malnutrition in the current year.

Recently, officials from the Ministry of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate also said the international aid to Afghanistan’s healthcare sector has been reduced.
