TALOQAN CITY (SW) – The ruinous floods in Takhar province have claimed 20 lives, with 15 others reported missing, officials confirmed.
Takhar’s local officials also stated that dozens of villages devastated.
Ahmad Siyar Sajed, the head of Disaster Management in Takhar, says the floods have also destroyed dozens of residential houses and hundreds of jeribs of agricultural land.
According to him, the casualties and damages have occurred due to heavy rainfall and the overflow of floods in the central and district areas of the province.
Sajed further added that these floods have predominantly affected the people in the districts of Chal, Ishkamish, Namakab, and Farkhar.
The staff of the Red Crescent Society in Takhar also reported the missing of 15 individuals due to the flooding in the village of “Moshtan” in the Farkhar district of the province.
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, has expressed condolences to the victims of the deadly floods, and called on citizens to contribute to helping the victims of natural disasters.
Mujahid stated that the Islamic Emirate will utilize all its resources to assist those affected.
He said that directives have been issued to government ministries responsible for disaster management, national defense, interior affairs, and provincial authorities to mobilize all available resources for rescuing survivors, retrieving the deceased, and treating the injured.
On Friday, as a result of flash floods in Badakhshan, Balkh, and Herat and Ghor provinces, dozens were killed and injured, and significant financial losses were incurred by the residents of these provinces.
According to statistics provided by the Natural Disaster Management Directorate of Badakhshan, at least 50 people lost their lives due to the floods in this province alone.
