Woman freed from 12-year domestic confinement in Ghazni

GHAZNI CITY (SW) – Officials in the Ghazni Security Command report the release of a woman after 12 years of domestic confinement in the province.

Khaled Sarhadi, spokesperson for the Ghazni Security Command, told Salam Watandar that the woman, had been imprisoned in her home in the village of Nazarwal, in Andar district of the province for 12 years by her husband.

According to him, the woman was rescued on Tuesday, by officials from Directorate Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice of Ghazni, and transferred to the regional hospital for treatment.

Sarhadi added that after marrying a second wife, the woman’s husband had imprisoned her.

He further emphasized that that security forces have detained the woman’s husband.
