New media law to finalize, says Mujahid 

KABUL (SW) – Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the de-facto government, informs Salaam Watandar that the Afghanistan’s new media law has been submitted to the leadership of the Islamic Emirate for approval and will soon be shared with the media owners.

“The media law will be finalized soon. In it [the media law], the Ministry of Information and Culture and legal institutions such as the Ministry of Good and Prohibition of Evil and the Ministry of Justice have done their duties, and for the sake of the final purpose, we hope that soon be finalized,” Mujahid said.

Meanwhile, Hayatullah Muhajer Farahi, the Deputy Minister of Broadcasting of the Ministry of Information and Culture, says that the new media law remains consistent with the previous law, with some modifications introduced in certain aspects.

“Three more things are emphasized in this law; Respecting Islamic values, Afghan culture, and the country’s national interests,” he added.

Farahi emphasizes that the de-facto government considers Islamic values ​​in all laws, because “Afghanistan is an Islamic country and we are obliged to respect it.”
