KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Public Health announced that a sub-campaign for implementing the polio vaccine in 14 provinces in the south, southeast, east, and northeast is set to commence on Monday.
This campaign would continue for four days, the ministry has stated on Sunday, December 24.
According to the statement, the sub-campaign for the implementation of the polio vaccine in Kunar, Nangarhar, Nuristan, and Laghman, which are facing a grim risk of the polio virus, commenced yesterday and will continue until the end of the week.
The ministry added that a total of 8,800,000 children under the age of ten would be vaccinated in this round.
One day prior, the World Health Organization (WHO) voiced concern about the potential for the polio increase coinciding with the return of Afghan refugees from Pakistan.
