Met department warns of rain and snowfall in eight provinces

KABUL (SW) – The Meteorological Department has predicted that eight provinces of Afghanistan will witness relatively rainfall and snowfall on Monday and Tuesday.

Mohammad Nasim Moradi, head of this department, told Salam Watandar that there is a possibility of snow and rainfall in the Badakhshan, Takhar, Kunduz, Balkh, Baghlan, Parwan, Panjshir, Nuristan, including Salang, for today and tomorrow.

Moradi adds that the amount of rain in different parts of these eight provinces is between 10 and 25 millimeters and the amount of snow is predicted between 10 and 30 centimeters.

According to Moradi, there is a possibility of more snowfall in Wakhan district of Badakhshan, and in other provinces, snowfall will be scattered.

In the meantime, Mohammad Khaled Hanafi, the Acting Minister of the Good and Prohibition of Evil, has ordered all the provincial directorates of this ministry to ask the people to pray for rain for three days.

According to the officials of this ministry, the acting minister of Good and Prohibition of Evil has ordered that prayer for rain be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the centers of provinces and districts.

It should be mentioned that since four years, drought in a number of provinces has caused a decrease in agricultural products and financial loss to farmers.
