Construction commenced on three dams in Paktia for rural development

PAKTIA (SW) – Officials at the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development report that construction has commenced on three dams and several other projects worth 40 million Afghanis in Paktia.

The construction of these dams commenced on Friday, December 22, with the presence of Mohammad Younes Akhundzada, Acting Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.

According to officials of the Ministry of Rural Development and Rehabilitation, these three dams will be built in Zermat, Rouhani Baba and Sayed Karam districts of Paktia.

The Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development has stated that dam construction will also commence in other provinces.

He mentioned that the de-facto government has decided to build a dam in every district across Afghanistan, and the task is distributed among three ministries for construction in 420 districts nationwide.

Mr. Akhundzada says: “The construction of 140 dams in 13 provinces has been entrusted to the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.”

Recently, officials in the Paktia sub-marine area informed Salam Watandar that 30% of the clean water reservoirs in the province have dried up, and almost 50% of the water sources have disappeared.
