Hundred couples tie knots in Sar-e-Pul

SAR-E-PUL (SW) – At least 100 young couples got married in a mass ceremony held in Sar-e-Pul on Friday.

The ceremony was organized by financial support of the local businessman, Mohammad Akbar Sultanzada.

In this ceremony, a six-meter carpet, a wedding dress and 20,000 afghanis in cash were distributed to each couple.

Local and security officials, heads of tribes, religious leaders, relatives of brides and grooms and hundreds of residents of Sar-e-Pul also participated in this wedding ceremony.

Mohammad Nader Haqjo, deputy governor of Sar-e-pol, has called on other traders and investors to support more for Institutionalization of holding mass wedding ceremonies.

On the other hand, Hamidullah, one of the heads of a tribe in Sar-e-Pul, says that holding such ceremonies is beneficial to prevent excessive wedding expenses and help youths who do not have the financial ability to pay for their wedding.

Meanwhile, a number of youths who have been engaged for one to seven years snd unable to get married due to poverty, say that holding mass wedding ceremonies is a great support to them and according to them, it should be adopted as a culture.
