Islamic Emirate rejects reports about killing of UN staff

KABUL (SW) – Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, has rejected reports about the killing of 30 humanitarian workers of the United Nations in Afghanistan.

The spokesman of the Islamic Emirate made this statement in response to the statements of Daniel Anders, the coordinator of the humanitarian aid of the United Nations in Afghanistan. Daniel Anders, in a video message yesterday on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, said that in the last two years, at least 30 humanitarian workers of this organization have been killed in Afghanistan.

The coordinator of humanitarian aid of the United Nations in Afghanistan added in his message that most of these employees were vaccinators and deminers. Daniel Anders considered Afghanistan a challenging environment for United Nations employees and called the threats against them unacceptable.

But, the Islamic Emirate spokesperson says that some western circles want to take a stand against Afghanistan and make the situation of this country insecure through propaganda.

Zabihullah Mujahid told Salam Watandar: “We are dealing with this issue. We see none of them in which human rights workers and aid workers are harmed, nor those who can play a role. For now, we are completely safe and everyone knows that.”

Daniel Anders, in his message, also said that the humanitarian needs in Afghanistan have reached their highest level and 29 million people need urgent assistance.

According to him, without humanitarian workers, millions of people will not have access to life.
