Israeli strikes continue across Gaza despite truce talks

MONITORING (SW) – As people follow the truce talks in Cairo with cautious hope, they still endure the intense bombing in Rafah city.

Overnight, two residential homes and a farmland in the eastern part of Rafah were targeted by Israeli strikes.

The attacks not only caused a shocking level of destruction but also led to further internal displacement in Rafah.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military continued to conduct strikes in the central part of Gaza, targeting refugee camps, including Nuseirat and Maghazi, Al Jazeera news agency reported.

In the Zeitoun neighbourhood in the northern part of Gaza City, a mother and her two children were killed in their residential home, according to the news agency.

According to the sources on the ground, this was a displaced family sheltering inside this building.

Hope, frustration and fear in Gaza amid ceasefire talks

The people of Gaza are closely following all the diplomatic efforts exerted towards reaching a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel.

There’s a great deal of optimism, mixed in with frustration because of failures in the past, with talks having collapsed due to the great gaps between both parties.

But they are hopeful of achieving a ceasefire, with displaced Palestinians calling for a return to their homes in the northern Gaza Strip.

They are also very afraid that Netanyahu will follow through on his threat to invade Rafah if these talks collapse, and so they are calling for a ceasefire to end the hardship and misery that they’ve been going through since the outbreak of the war.
