Black magic practitioners to be arrested

KABUL (SW) – Officials in the Ministry of Promotion of Virtu and Prohibition of Evil say that it will arrest all involved with the trade of “taviz” amulets and black magic.

Mohammad Akif Mohajer, the spokesman of the Ministry of Promotion of Virtu and Prohibition, told Salam Watandar that the leadership of the ministry made this decision after receiving a number of complaints from residents of Kabul and provinces about it.

He adds: “Our dear compatriots have complained about it from most of the provinces, and as far as we know, these people were practicing magic in some areas. For this reason, the leadership of the ministry decided to seriously pursue and those who practice magic should be stopped.”

A number of Kabul residents, especially the youth, welcomed this decision, saying that most of these people deceive the customers with their words and get huge money in this way.

Sayeed Ullah, a resident of Kabul city, says: “It is a good thing if these people are arrested. We don’t know how these things work and I myself know people who believe in these words and with the slightest problem in their lives, they go to these people and spend a lot of money.”

Waisuddin, another resident of Kabul city, also says: “If these people who take people’s money unjustly get arrested, it is a good decision. People should not believe the words of these people and spend their money and be deceived by these things.”

On the other hand, a number of women in Kabul say that women go to black magic practitioners more than men because they think they can solve their life problems.

Wajma, a resident of Kabul city, said: “Many women go to these people. They take 2-3 thousand from each person, their words are not true. We are also happy that these people will slowly be collected from the society and people will get rid of their problems.”

Officials in the Ministry of Promotion of Virtu and Prohibition say that there is no problem with writing amulets and using it as stated in Sharia law, but according to them, some people are now doing business this way.
