Turkey deports 598 Afghan migrants

MONITORING (SW) – The general directorate of immigration in Turkey has announced that 2018 illegal migrants, including 598 Afghans, have been expelled from this country.

This department said in a statement on Saturday that these migrants were deported from Turkey in the last week.

According to the announcement, from March 17 to 23, the Turkish police arrested 2,527 immigrants throughout the country.

Among the deported people, 598 were Afghans, 38 were Pakistanis, and 1,382 others were from other countries, whose respective countries were not mentioned.

The general directorate of immigration in Turkey added that the total number of deported migrants since the beginning of 2023 has reached 24,287.

This department has emphasized that last year about 124, 441 migrants were deported from this country.

According to reports, Turkey currently hosts 3.9 million refugees, which is the largest number of refugees in the world. Of these, 3.6 million are from Syria and another 320,000 from Afghanistan and other countries.
