Surge in targeted assassinations spread fears

KABUL (SW) – Surge in frames and targeted assassinations have spread fears despite the caretaker government of the Islamic Emirate assuring about the provision of security throughout the country.

On Wednesday, two businessmen who were father and son, were killed in Nangarhar and a doctor in Balkh by unknown armed men. Meanwhile, in Parwan, Logar and Uruzgan provinces, two women and one man have been killed in the past three days.

The increase in targeted killings in some provinces of the country has made citizens worried about their lives.

Rahmatullah, a resident of Nangarhar, told Salam Watandar: “I ask the current authorities to prevent such events so that people can travel and live with peace of mind.”

Waheed, another resident of Nangarhar, said: “People want the government to reduce the amount of crimes so that people can live well and happily.”

Late on Wednesday evening, unknown gunmen assassinated a well-known doctor of Balkh Province, named Asadullah Shariq, while returning home from work, in ​​the 7th Security District of Mazar-e-Sharif city, the center of this province.

Ashraf Rawan, one of Asadullah Sharq’s colleagues and the director of Abu Ali Seena Balkhi District Hospital, told Salam Watandar: “The killing of Dr. Sahib is really a loss, and not only to the city of Mazar-e-Sharif in the health department but for the whole country.”

Also on Wednesday, a man named Khawaja Mohammad, a resident of Siah Gard district of Parwan province, who was a minesweeper in Kandahar province, killed his wife. He first wounded his wife with a blow to the shin and then placed a mine on her stomach and detonated it.

The officials of the Logar Police Command told Salam Watandar that the body of a young woman was found yesterday in the village of “Deno” in the Mohammad Agha district of this province. She was killed mysteriously by unknown people.

On the other hand, two days ago in Uruzgan province, the father of a female doctor was killed by unknown armed men.

Despite all this, the officials of the caretaker government of the Islamic Emirate say that security is ensured in the country.

Bilal Karimi, one of the deputy spokespersons of the Islamic Emirate, told Salaam Watandar: “No one was harmed by the Islamic Emirate or from the office of the Islamic Emirate. If someone has been harmed somewhere because of personal enmity, that has been pursued by the security agencies.”
