Trade in foreign currencies banned across Afghanistan

KABUL (SW) – A ban on trade in foreign currencies has been introduced by the Islamic Emirate across Afghanistan.

The cabinet of the Islamic Emirate has decided that from now on, all transactions of buying and selling assets, renting and mortgaging with foreign currencies will be prohibited.

The Ministry of Interior issued a statement saying that according to the cabinet decision, buying, selling, renting and mortgaging land, houses, shops, markets, houses, apartments, tools and vehicles with foreign currencies is prohibited.

The Ministry of Interior has instructed all provincial security commands and intelligence agencies to monitor and prevent such cases on an ongoing basis.

The ministry said in a statement that violators will be dealt with in accordance with Sharia and law.

Earlier, Abdul Salam Hanafi, the second deputy prime minister, told a news conference in Kabul that the use of Afghan currency was mandatory in the country and that trade in foreign currencies was banned, but this was not implemented in a number of provinces
