Roadside blasts claim 8 lives in Kunduz, Nangarhar

KUNDUZ/ JALALABAD (SW) – Roadside bomb blasts in Kunduz and Nangarhar provinces on Thursday claimed at least eight lives, confirmed officials.

According to eyewitnesses, the explosion in Kunduz took place this afternoon in the Sardorah area near the Sarvar Zarif school in the fourth security district of Kunduz city.

Qari Obaidullah Abedi, spokesman for the Kunduz Police Command, said that the explosion took place at around 12:30 today. According to Abedi, the explosives were placed in a bicycle and placed on the side of the road. According to him, four people were killed and 18 others, including three children and a woman, were injured in the incident.

The spokesman for the Kunduz Police Command added that investigations were ongoing into the involvement of the perpetrators of the incident.

Separately, local officials in Khogyani district of Nangarhar province say that four members of the Islamic Emirate were killed and another was wounded in a roadside bomb blast in the Bare Khwaran area of ​​the district. The bomb struck shortly after noon in front of a gathering of Islamic State forces.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the blast.
